Hi! Can anybody explain to me where the name 'Kindle' for this device comes from? Who invented it? When and where was it first used?
The Oxford ALD gives the following explanations: to kindle (so, a verb) means to (cause sth to) catch fire; or to arouse or stimulate (feelings, etc.); become bright, shine or glow. So I take it, the name was deliberately/intentionally chosen - but was it?
Also: where and by whom is it made or produced?
Here in Europe the name Kindle has not been used so far; here it's Sony that seems to be calling the shots with their so-called E-reader.
With best wishes,
FransP.
