Reef Tank - Cycling Almost Complete
Alright - an update is overdue. I’ve been running water tests regularly and over the last few weeks the levels are beginning to normalize. Ammonia, Nitrates and Nitrites are approaching their desired non existence, but still a little bit to go before they’re gone….

The long awaited Reef Keeper Elite controller finally came in and it was time to tidy up the mess of cables. I labeled and organized all the wires. Believe it or not there are 6 pumps running at all times in the the aquarium. The lighting unit, the Coralife Aqualight Pro takes up 7 outlets, so there is no easy way to get around the mess of cables.
I added a side table to the aquarium stand to help accommodate the ballasts for the lights as well as the two power strips for the controller.
This phenomenal computer can control over 250 outlets, so I will be ordering some more of their power strips to completely control the hardware via the RKE.

I don’t see how I would have been able to fit everything under the stand. This way I also have a little bit of storage for testing equipment and some supplies.
It also is a good platform for the cats to sit and watch ‘their TV’ all day long!
At this point there is not much more to do but wait. If I’m lucky and everything continues on its current path I should be adding some hermit crabs, snails and corals over the next couple of weeks and by this time next month fish will be coming in!
I will be posting some upated pictures on the tank shortly.
The cables under the stand also needed a clean up.
They look much better now:
