Reef Tank - Build Day 2 - New Stand Is Here
OK! The new stand and canopy have arrived, and its time to start the plumbing!
This is what the stand and aquarium look like in their final location. LOOKS GREAT!

I lined up all the union ball valves, ball valves, elbows, T’s and couplings to illustrate how intricate and complicated the next few days were going to be, but I don’t think this picture does it justice
In order to better illustrate the size, the next picture shows a better perspective and has a tape measure to create a sense of scale.
The biggest union ball valve is about 5 inches wide, and 9 inches long. This is pretty large hardware, but a must for a system that is completely fail proof with shut offs at every major pipe.

Of course, even with the best of planning we needed to do a couple of Home Depot / Lowes runs to add a few pieces missing here and there, but a lot was accomplished today!
Here’s Sean applying primer and PVC glue to the Dart pump.

The Oceans Motions unit splits the water return from the closed loop system and creates 15 second bursts of water in 2 directions at a time. I’m going to have this unit plumbed so that there are 2 diffusers pushing left, and then 2 pushing right creating a nice surge effect in the tank.

Below are a couple more shots from the closed loop system build
