The Guitar Hero Revolution Continues - Coming To Your Nintendo DS
Despite recent law suit noise and commentary, the Guitar Hero craze continues to spread.
In my house we own Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero III, Guitar Hero Rock the 80s across the Sony Playstation 2 and Nintendo Wii and we are eagerly awaiting the Aerosmith game to be released. Its a fun game, the music is great, and the newer versions have incorporated better and better 2 player modes like battle and faceoff, as well as online multi player capabilities. Other versions of Guitar Hero have already been released for computers, both Mac and PCs.
This summer, Guitar Hero will also be released on the Nintendo DS, making game break free of the television and computer. The game, Guitar Hero On Tour, comes in the form of an adapter that plugs in to the DS and adds the fret buttons and hold a pick, which is used to strum on the DS screen. I imagine it will also take advantage of the DS WiFi to play against other Nintendo DS units.
What a success story - Activision really hit it big, with a game that is relatively simple to develop, and has people going crazy over it. I wonder if they will open up video games in the future so that individuals can create and share their own additional tracks adding to the experience of the game. Most consoles already have hard drives and connectivity, and I think opening up games to third party collaboration is the next big thing. From maps and levels to songs and videos - the possibilities are endless - I just hope consoles come with Anti Virus programs in the future!
But I digress - here is a preview of Guitar Hero for the Nintendo DS.

- Stumble it!
